Varen Technologies, a SilverEdge Company, is a member of AFCEA International, a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry and academia as a forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, information technology, intelligence and security. Varen Technologies is an active support of such AFCEA events as its annual 5K race, golf tournament and fundraising efforts to provide STEM scholarships for deserving students in the area.

The Leadership Team at Varen Technologies, a SilverEdge Company, is dedicated to programs that support our youth. The organization encourages all students regardless of background and experience to take a greater interest in STEM with the hope they will pursue a STEM related or focused career. With the help of the company’s interns, Varen provides technical solutions to help advertise and manage statewide STEM activities. Based on the organization’s requirements, Varen interns built a mobile application targeting the Android platform in use by the MD STEM Fest organizer to help users find and communicate with other community members.

Varen leaders work with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources to those affected by suicide. All Varen Technologies, a SilverEdge Company, employees are educated about the need to prevent suicide and undergo training through AFSP when they join the company and annually. Varen participates and attends conferences and industry educational efforts, including President Trump’s PREVENTS industry day and the VA DoD Suicide Prevention Conference. Varen monitors all supporting activities of President Trump’s Executive Orders and provides feedback to all outreach communications from TASK FORCE and PREVENTS.

Irreverent Warriors aims to bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide, uniting the Veteran community and driving a healthy culture through creative engagements, events, and strong Veteran-based support networks. Varen’s support of military suicide prevention aligns with the goals of Irreverent Warriors. Varen leaders work closely with Irreverent Warriors and help to promote its therapeutic events in the region, helping to spread the word, drive attendance, and participate in its hikes.

Maryland Therapeutic Riding is dedicated to helping individuals find overall wellness and mental wellbeing in their lives through the therapeutic power of horseback riding. The organization strives to improve the quality of life of children, adults, active military, and veterans with special needs. Varen leadership supports MTR with board of directors participation and assistance with marketing and fundraising, enabling MTR to provide free therapeutic services for Active Duty military members and Veterans. In addition, Varen has provided needed physical upgrades including refurbishing picnic tables used by the staff, riders, family members, and spectators during lessons and events.

Mission 22 was one of the first organizations Varen supported. The organization offers services to the veterans in support of suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury. Varen embraced the opportunity to help navigate the political maze in search for government support, funding, and awareness.

Varen Technologies, a SilverEdge Company, performed a clinical research trial in February 2018 that leveraged the framework and methodologies used in the intelligence space to find suicide indicators. These indicators can be found in various types of data resulting in dashboard displays to help subject matter experts make decisions. Varen leveraged our partner’s AI/ML platform with incredible results which have been submitted for publication in a medical journal.

Research clinicians indicated that MondoBrain was one of the first AI/ML platforms that could be used without subject matter expert support. The tool found certain combinations resulting in high-risk indicators that were quickly validated and used to mathematically generate rapid conclusions and prescriptive solutions for subject matter experts to evaluate and make knowledgeable decisions. The research has the potential to change the way veterans are evaluated, enabling faster and more accurate treatments. Varen and Mondobrain continue to work with clinical researchers and expect to evaluate the next round of data soon.

Varen supports the Warrior Music Foundation and its mission to serve active duty military, veterans and their families by providing a venue for learning, healing and camaraderie using music.
